STORY
John and Caryl O’Shaughnessy grew up and lived in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Caryl grew up in a Christian home and became a believer at an early age. She always remembers being a Christian. After serving in the U.S. Marines from 1976 to 79, John became a Christian his Freshman year in college. Caryl was instrumental in leading John to the Lord. In fact, she had been praying for John’s conversion ever since they met in high school.
After they married in 1980, John and Caryl settled down to what seemed to be a comfortable, routine lifestyle. John, with his disarming friendliness, spent the next 11 years in a rewarding career selling specialty metals.
In 1993 the Lord began challenging them in new ways, which included listening to His voice and following Him wherever He led. The Lord was asking them to let go of their earthly comforts. God quickly redirected their path in ways they could not understand. John moved abruptly into God’s “School of Humility” of growth and ministry. Praiseworthy Ministry was birthed on March 29, 1997. We are an affiliate ministry of Encounters Network (Jim and Michal Ann Goll, Founders).
In 1994 the Lord called their family to move to Kansas City to attend Metro Christian Fellowship under Mike and Diane Bickle. Along with their three children , they began a new life in Kansas City. In 1999, Mike and Diane Bickle founded the International House of Prayer, John and Caryl felt led to be part of this new ministry. |
